Old City Quarter
As the name implies, this is the old city of Chiang Mai. This city was formerly occupied by the Lan Na Kingdom, which is said to be the oldest in Thailand.
The Old City Quarter is surrounded by high walls. The main gate is Tha Pae, which is located east of the Old City Quarter. Inside, old buildings blend in harmony with cute little cafes. Many old buildings have been converted into restaurants, from Burger King to Starbucks. However, the temples of the 15th century still stand majestically!
Take your friends along to explore cool temples such as Wat Chiang Man, Wat Chedi Luang, as well as several museums such as the Chiang Mai City Art and Cultural Center and the Lan Na Architecture Museum. There are many spots for taking pictures and selfies together, especially around the 3 King's Monument which looks like a square.
Chiang Mai Night Market
This night market is held daily at Thanon Chang Khlan, close to Tha Pae Gate. This 1 Kilometer long night market is a tourist destination every day. You can hunt for various souvenirs and knick-knacks, as well as taste Thai specialties here!

Chiang Mai's specialties are heavily influenced by Burmese and Chinese tastes. However, they have their own milder flavor which uses a lot of ginger and turmeric.
One of the popular foods that you must try in this city is Khao Soi or curry egg noodles. Besides noodles, Khao soi is also equipped with a variety of other ingredients. For example, is chicken or beef. Complementary ingredients such as dried chili powder, pickled cabbage, lime juice, and sliced shallots are also used to enhance the deliciousness.
Khao soi is great to eat while the sauce is still warm. The rich use of spices also contributes to the aroma and taste that is produced when this dish is served. Not only that, the use of coconut milk also makes the taste of the sauce even more savory.
Wow, that looks really good, doesn't it? Although serving noodles is fairly common, it doesn't hurt to explore other variations of processed noodles. An example is Khao soi from northern Thailand. So, don't forget to try Khao soi when you visit Chiangmai!
